Internship and practicum in Santiago

An internship in a Spanish company represents a valuable opportunity to get to know new aspects of Spanish life and culture. And when the internship involves direct contact with the public, the experience becomes an excellent way to improve and increase your command of Spanish Language.

This program in Santiago de Compostela is a combination of Spanish language training + unpaid internship in a tourist promotion company.

Our spanish school in Santiago has signed an agreement of collaboration with the company in charge of the tourist promotion of Santiago de Compostela. This company is run directly by the City Council, and operates 4 major tourist information offices in town. The students undertake their internships as part of the staff of these offices, carrying out a real job within the field of activity of the company. The duties to be carried out are:

  • Welcoming and information to the general public.
  • Translation of different types of tourism information.
  • Linguistic intermediation (phone, email)
  • Contacts with clients / providers / users of the different tourist services in the town.
  • Administrative work (database management and updating, commercial mailings…)

During the entire internship period, the students have the constant help and support of the company staff. Training, orientation and all the information/documentation required for the completion of the job is also provided by the company and by our Spanish school in Santiago.

The minimum duration of the language-training course depends on your level of spanish, from beginner and elementary the minimum duration is 10 weeks, for pre-intermediate is 6 weeks (you can do your internship at the same time as the language course in this case), for intermediate and advance is 4 weeks. The maximum duration can be up to 6 months. Minimum duration is 4 weeks (3 weeks for groups).  No additional cost for more weeks of internship (is the same price for 4 weeks or 6 months).

Exist the possibility of gaining University Credits because the host company belongs to an official institution, the City Council of Santiago de Compostela, the contents of the course are established in agreement with the University, school or high school of origin of the students. Thus, the quality of the programme –both of the course and internship- is guaranteed, and some universities are giving credits to students undertaking this program.

All the students can participate in the program, no selection process in needed. And this programme is available to groups of students (no other internship program offering reliable and valuable work experience is available to previously formed groups).
