Spanish Courses in Benalmádena

In the near future (2007) we will represent our new partner Spanish school in Benalmádena, in the south of Spain.

Benalmádena City:

Benalmádena is a town and municipality  in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalucía in southern Spain. The municipality is situated approximately 12 km to the west of the city of Málaga, on the southern coast between Torremolinos and Fuengirola, in the heart of the Costa del Sol. It has a population of approximately 30,000 residents, but also caters for a large number of tourists. The town is also home to the Enlightenment Stupa, the largest stupa (a structure important in Buddhism) in the West, standing 108 feet (33 metres) tall.

Originally a sleepy Andalusian fishing village with beautiful white washed houses, Benalmadena has
developed into a lively and animated town which retains its old charm and character. The town is small enough to provide a peaceful and secure environment, while large enough to offer good shops, hotels and restaurants, a large park, a modern sports centre, shopping centres, cinemas, an art gallery, etc.

Benalmadena offers a wide range of amenities for all ages, such as, an amusement park, a casino, 18
hole golf greens and the popular Puerto Marina de Benalmadena, with 978 mooring slips, a sailing
school, an aquarium, a diving school, that has become one of the favourite meeting places for young people for its dazzling nightlife.
The geographical situation of Benalmadena enables the students to organize cultural excursions to the most important cities of Andalusia and to Morocco, only a short one hour ferry trip away.

The municipality has three main urban areas:

• Benalmádena Pueblo, the original village, which lies about three kilometres inland at an elevation of approximately 200 m above mean sea level.
• Benalmádena Costa, an urban agglomeration on the coast. Here there are discos, hotels, beaches, shopping centers and an extensively-equipped marina.
• Arroyo de la Miel, originally a separate village, is in the interior between the other two areas. It has become the main residential area, and is also the most commercially active.

Benalmádena Spanish School:

Erasmus Language spanish school in Benalmádena  was founded in 1976 as a private Spanish high school.
The Spanish language school opened in 1978, offering courses for adults all year round. The school is now located in an independent building withbright and modern facilities and within walking distance to the town centre and the sea.
Erasmus Language spanish school in Benalmádena  is an accredited centre of INSTITUTO CERVANTES, having regular inspections to ensure that the high standards are maintained in class as well as with our out of class support services, accommodation, recreation and welfare. The Spanish school is open from Monday to Friday, from 09.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m.
The Language School is situated on the top floor of a modern building with 14 large, bright classrooms, all of them equipped with audiovisual facilities, DVD and air conditioning.
There is also a library with a wide range of reading material available, a multimedia room with free internet access, a 25-seat cinema used for conferences and seminars as well as for Spanish movies, a large sunshade terrace with a small cafeteria (summer only), common rooms, teachers' room, etc...

Activities in Benalmádena:

Your experience in Andalusia will be further enriched by getting to know the country, the people and their way of life. For this purpose we offer a stimulating programme for your free time:

Spanish movies shown on a large-screen video, conferences on Spanish arts, history or literature; "tutor lessons" weekly where the students can have a free 30-minute session with a teacher to further discuss grammatical structure, vocabulary or other subjects.
Tapa-tours (Gastronomic tours in town to taste the local cuisine), "Paella and Sangria" parties at the school, evening outings to theatres, concerts and music venues for Flamenco or Salsa and Latin American dances, to restaurants or discotheques and more!

Day trips to famous Andalusian cities, such as Seville, Cordoba, Granada or Ronda are organized regularly. Other visits include Malaga (not to miss is the new Picasso's Museum, the Cathedral, the Alcazaba or the botanical garden "La Concepción), Marbella, Benalmadena and many more. The Sports Centre in Benalmadena and the Municipal Swimming pool are close by and offer modern facilities for tennis, athletics, swimming, badminton, etc.

The beaches are just minutes Hawai so that the choice of water sports is wide: sailing, windsurfing, diving, etc.

Our staff is always available to offer advice and help with arranging any activity that is of special interest to individual students.

Accommodation in Benalmadena:

Homestays:
Enjoy the comforts of a private home and immerse yourself in Spanish life and culture.
We arrange the stay in carefully selected host families on either a single room or shared basis with breakfast or half board (breakfast & dinner)
For long-term stays we recommend to book the homestay option with Half board as Spanish families are not used to sharing their kitchens.
Before a host-family joins Erasmus Language, the accommodation officer makes a very detailed inspection to ensure high standards are maintained.
A student can therefore be confident that his/her Spanish hosts will be fully briefed about what they are expected to provide
Most of our host families live within walking distance from the school; others live a 10 to 15 minutes light train / bus ride.
Unless otherwise requested we ensure that students do not share a family with others of the same native tongue.

Aparthotel:
Erasmus Language provides apartments situated in a complex 10 minutes walking distance from the
school, close to the beaches and to the town centre.
Available all year round. Independent mini-apartments, furnished, with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, terrace, weekly cleaning service, reception 24 hours and swimming- pool. Bed linen is provided but you should bring your own towels. Double or single room. (Double rooms are only available for 2 friends or 2 students wishing to share) No meals. Coffeshops, restaurants and supermarkets are close to the complex.

Shared flats and mini-residence:
Independent comfortable apartments in Benalmadena, 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the
school, fully furnished with complete kitchen and bathroom, to share with international students.
No meals included. Double or single rooms. The school will choose a roommate for any students booking alone. Linen and towels are provided.
Shared flat: Self catering apartments with 1 or 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, complete kitchen, for 2 / 3 persons. Weekly cleaning. Ideal for two friends or couples.
Mini – residence: Owned by the school and located next to the Language Centre: comfortable and modern rooms (double and single), shared bathrooms and large common areas. Fully equipped kitchen, cooking utensils, washing machines. Weekly cleaning.

Spanish Courses in Benalmadena:

Spanish Intensive Course:
The lessons concentrate on grammatical structure, speaking and understanding everyday Spanish and pronunciation. Intermediate to advanced classes focus on comprehension, communication, creative writing, idiomatic expressions and presentation of role-plays.

Spanish Combination Course:
This course integrates the Intensive course in the morning with a tailor-made programme based on private instruction and giving the students an opportunity to work on any specific language problem areas.

Spanish Executive Course:
This course is designed for motivated students who wish to maximise the time spent in Spain as effectively as possible. Following a needs analysis, a course is specifically designed to suit the particular requirements of the student.

Spanish For Seniors (+50):
A two week all inclusive package which features Spanish lessons, activities and cultural excursions. The teaching methodology of this course takes into account the interests and special needs of the course participants and focuses on practical Spanish to enable them to use Spanish in the typical situations they will encounter in everyday life.

DELE Examination, Preparatory Courses:
These courses prepare students for the DELE Examination of Instituto Cervantes, the only widely recognized Spanish language examination in the world. The course offers 20 lessons weekly and 5 extra class hours weekly. The examinations take place during the week immediately following the end of the preparatory course.
Supervised by a tutor, the preparatory course includes intensive practice in examination techniques and practice examinations with feedback from your teacher who will also help the student enrol at the appropriate level.

Spanish for Travel and Tourism:
Designed for intermediate-level students this practical course covers the language used in the tourism industry and develops the communicative skills using authentic situations and simulations.
This 3-week course takes place in July and includes 60 hours of Spanish tuition in the morning plus 27 extra lessons in a small group, based on specific subjects of Tourism and Travel. A full programme of visits to cultural places as well as to local companies related to the Tourism Industry such as hotels, tourist boards, the Exhibition and Convention hall, tour operators, etc. complements the course.
This course is also offered to school groups at any time of the year.
